Current statistics show that about one-half of all marriages end in divorce. Taking the “Duh” Out of Divorce explains what divorce is, helps keep students organized when living in two homes, and gives them strategies for dealing with the sadness and anger their parents’ divorce can cause. The program encourages students to examine their feelings and fears about their parents’ divorce and gives them techniques for talking to their parents and other adults.
Students often find divorce a difficult topic to process and discuss. Reflective writing prompts allow students to put their thoughts about a challenging subject into words. Independent practice work sheets are designed to facilitate class discussion about divorce, and students are encouraged to share their worksheets with their parents.
