“A Senate committee voted Thursday to recommend legislation that would give the State Board of Education greater oversight of the widely used but controversial CSCOPE curriculum. A revised version of Senate Bill 1406 would require the state board to review the CSCOPE curriculum the same way it reviews prospective textbooks. About 70 percent of Texas school districts use CSCOPE, which has come under fire from conservative groups decrying it as “anti-American.”
