This month’s recipient of Postscripts Fresh Ideas recognition goes to Austin Independent School District’s Murchison Middle School for its “No Place for Hate” program and recognition of National No One Eats Alone Day. Started by the organization Beyond Differences, on Friday, February 12, 2016, middle schoolers across the country used their lunch hour to make new friends and ensure that everyone was included. Murchison Middle School was one of the many schools that participated. According to Beyond Differences, last year 700 schools in 38 states participated. The student-led event is designed to foster new friendships and end social isolation in middle school.
